Great Tyne Row - help our good cause in 2022
This year the Great Tyne Row MMXXII is supporting the charity Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums Development Trust who bring museum learning to life for children in the more marginalised areas of the Northeast.
The Great Tyne Row is supporting this great cause by adopting a Roman theme for this year’s event, making it one of the many organisations in the region celebrating the 1900-year anniversary of Hadrian’s Wall, and by asking the crews taking part and its supporters to donate to the charity who run two Roman forts on the Tyne, at Wallsend and South Shields.
One of the last troops occupying the Roman fort at Arbeia in South Shields were the Tigris Bargemen who used to row goods and people up the Tyne to Hexham, so there’s a nice connection between the Wall and rowing. Please donate to this great cause by clicking on this link and following the instructions. It will make a real difference to the children of the North East.
